Search in SCAYLE Panel

Robust search functionality is essential to improving your customers' browsing experience on product listing pages, SCAYLE offers a search module, allowing you to adjust the output of frontend search results. You can find relevant documentation about the search module provided in the SCAYLE Panel here.

Now let's apply these learnings to the German Fashion Store.

Search Result Logic

SCAYLE uses existing attribute groups to define search result logic. A drag-and-drop interface allows you to assign priorities to these groups, influencing their order in the search results.

The order of searchable attributes is crucial for search relevance. When customers search for a specific product, the master category is considered first, followed by other attributes in order of importance. For instance, if a customer searches for a "blue Adidas T-shirt," the T-shirt master category is considered most important, followed by the product name "Adidas T-shirt," and finally the color "blue."

Synonyms

The “synonyms” sub-area provides multiple tools for handling synonyms.

In the context of the German Fashion Store, we need to find synonyms for “T-shirt.” In this example, we've added the synonyms “shirt,” “tee,” “sweatshirt,” and “sport.”

Categories

We also need to find synonyms for the category “men.” Possible synonyms in this example could include "Männer," "Mann," "sport," or "shirt."

Attributes

To enhance the customer’s search result experience, we’ve expanded the definition of the attribute group “color” and the attribute “blue” by adding synonyms like different shades of blue as well as colors like “petrol” or “aquamarine.”

Typo Tolerance

This feature covers tolerance for spelling errors. We recommend enabling the auto typo tolerance as it automatically calculates the best result. Since our shops only offer trousers and T-shirts, we can generally ignore numbers in the search.

The “words” sub-area allows you to define “stop words.” These are words that occur frequently but do not carry significant meaning or are used as filler words.
