Brands

During the data import phase, a brand Attribute Group is created by default.

You do not necessarily have to work with brands. However, it is recommended if you want to highlight individual brands with landing pages or within a theme (for example, sustainable brands or dirndl fashion).

In the SCAYLE Panel, we distinguish between:

  • Existing brand Attribute Groups (which include specific brands, such as Nike and Lascana), and
  • Attribute Groups at brand level (which are used to describe brand characteristics in more detail. These could be criteria such as sustainability, local availability, or special care instructions).

These Attribute Groups can then be converted by the front end to display the respective brands in a particular way. For example, brands are only displayed in a specific country, are marked as Fairtrade, or receive special care instructions.

Although brands are usually generated at import, you can create them directly in the SCAYLE Panel as needed.

Brand Attribute Groups will be depreciated in future releases. As an alternative, Custom Data should be used.

Manage Brands

Existing brands are displayed on the brand overview page under Products > Brands. You can search for specific brands and click on a brand to open the respective details page.

Brands page

Brand Details Page

You can see all brand information on the corresponding details page, add or change a logo, customize the name, add a brand group, and view the brand ID. Furthermore, you can adjust brand-specific Attribute Groups (for example, sustainability).

At the bottom of the details page is a list of all products assigned to the brand. For each product, the following information is displayed:

  • Image
  • ID
  • Name
  • Brand
  • Merchant
  • Status

If you have assigned a brand to a brand group, it will be displayed at the bottom of the page with the group’s other brands.

Brand IDs are predefined by the system and cannot be changed.

Create Brands

There are two ways to create a new brand:

  1. Within the brand attribute group.
  2. In the brand area.

Create Brands within Brand Attribute Group

  1. Go to Settings > Product Structure > Attributes and search for the Attribute Group Brand (already created during the integration phase).
  2. Within this Attribute Group, all existing brands are displayed under Attributes.
  3. To create a new one, click Add Attribute. Enter the name and save.

The brand now displays in the brand area with its own details page.

Create Brands in Brand Area

  1. Go to the brand overview page under Products > Brands.
  2. Click on New Brand and enter a brand name. Confirm your choice with Create Brand.
  3. You can then choose to be forwarded to the details page and edit it. Now fill in all relevant fields. If you decide you need more Attribute Groups, you can create them later.

When creating a brand, the system may prompt you to assign Attribute Groups if previously defined.

Delete Brands

In your system, brands play a crucial role in defining and categorizing products. However, there may come a time when you need to remove a brand from your system. Please be aware that brands can only be deleted via the brand Attribute Groups.

Delete Brands within Brand Attribute Group

  1. Go to Settings > Product Structure > Attributes and search for the Attribute Group Brand.
  2. Within this Attribute Group, all existing brands are displayed under Attributes.
  3. To delete a brand, select the brand you wish to remove and click the Trash Icon option.
  4. To Delete a new Brand, click on the Trash Icon behind the Attribute Group name.

After confirming the deletion, the selected brand will be removed from your system, and it will no longer be associated with any products.

Map Attribute Groups

During the data import phase, it is possible to determine that brands must always be assigned to certain Attribute Groups (for example, choose a sustainability classification). If a brand is then created from scratch, you would have to assign it to attribute groups like "Fairtrade" or "Öko-Tex". Another example would be if a brand is only available online, and you want to label it as "online exclusive".

A predefined Attribute Group mapping is not mandatory. You can also create and map brand characteristics manually.

Create Brand Attribute Groups

Create brand-specific Attribute Group

  1. Go to Settings > Product structure > Attributes.
  2. Click Add Attribute Group and fill in the required fields (Name, Display Name, and Product Level).
  3. Choose the Brand entity as product level and create the Attribute Group.
  4. Select whether this group’s attribute values should be displayed and edited on the brand area’s details pages and whether multiple selections are possible. If you enter a group, attribute groups can be bundled for navigation. An example would be the use of sub-brands.
  5. Enter the Attribute Group's required attribute values (for example, sustainability seal or country approvals).

Suppose you have created the Attribute Group as Editable on Brand Area. In that case, you can later select on the detail page which attribute values should be valid for the respective brands (for example, Germany, Europe, or worldwide). The front end can later use this information to display brand products accordingly.

If you want to attach more information to a brand, you must create additional Attribute Group with the entity Brand. All existing brand entities are listed under Settings > Product Structure > Entity Overview > Brand. The Attribute Group have links, which will take you directly to the respective editing pages.

Please refer to the Master Attributes section for more information about creating Attribute Group.

Brands always consist of simple Attribute Group.

Using Attribute Group, you define essential information for the front end, such as how and where a brand will be shown. Attribute Group only affect brands if they are defined and converted accordingly in the front end.

Brand Groups

You can combine individual brands to brand groups on the respective details page. It may be useful to work with brand groups, for example, to bundle sub-brands. Thematic groups, such as sustainable brands or sports brands, are also a common use case.

You can set up brand groups by entering them in the group field on a brand's detail page. When you save the page, the group will be generated automatically. Next time you create a brand, the group will already be available for selection.

Whether and how the brands are best used depends on many conditions. Therefore, during the integration phase it is usually determined whether brand Attribute Group or mandatory Attribute Group are used.
