Payment Methods
The SCAYLE Panel allows you to manage and configure various payment methods for your online shop. You can enable or disable payment options, set up authentication details, and define availability settings per shop country. This document outlines how payment methods work, the different statuses, and best practices for managing them effectively.
Payment Methods Overview

Payment methods in SCAYLE have two levels:
- Payment Method – This represents the general payment method (e.g., PayPal, Klarna) listed in the Payments section. It acts as a container for shop country-specific configurations but does not have its own configuration.
- Shop Country-specific Configuration – Each payment method must be configured individually for each shop country (e.g., PayPal for Germany). Only shop country-specific configurations define the actual settings and availability of a payment method.
You can find all available payment methods in the Payments section of the SCAYLE Panel:
- Active – Payment method is configured and available to customers for certain shop countries
- Not Configured – Payment method is available but not yet set up.
Best Practice: Use the search bar to quickly find specific payment methods.
Configuring Shop Country-Specific Payment Methods
It may take up to 5 minutes for all caches to be invalidated and for your changes to appear in the frontend.
Viewing Configuration Status

To view the configuration status:
- Open the SCAYLE Panel and go to Settings → Payments.
- Click on the payment method you want to check.
You can easily check the status of a payment method in the overview:
- Active – The payment method is configured for a specific shop country and is available to customers.
- Configured – The payment method is configured for a specific shop country and is not available to customers.
If no payment method is configured on a country level, an empty state screen will be shown in the overview.

To configure a payment method on a shop country level:
- Open the SCAYLE Panel and go to Settings → Payments.
- Click on the payment method you want to configure.
- Select + Activate Shop Country to add the payment method for a specific shop country.
- Fill in the required details, such as:
- Minimum basket value – Specify the minimum order value required for this payment method to appear during checkout. (This value can be overwritten via the Rule Engine.)
- Maximum basket value – Specify the maximum order value for which this payment method will be available. (This value can be overwritten via the Rule Engine.)
- Minimum age – Enter the minimum age a customer must be to use this payment method. (This value can be overwritten via the Rule Engine.)
- Is Auto-Selectable – When enabled, this payment method will be suggested as the default option during checkout based on the customer's previous payment choice.
- Save payment for future orders – When enabled, this payment method will be automatically pre-selected at checkout if it was used in the previous order.
- Under Authentication, provide the required API details (depending on the provider, different fields may be required, but in general we are talking about):
- API Key
- Merchant Account
- Client Key
- Save your changes.
Best Practice: The values for minimum basket value, maximum basket value, and minimum age, as well as the visibility of the payment method, can be customized using the Rule Engine to create market-specific or customer-specific configurations.

Editing Payment Methods in Advanced Mode (via three-dot menu)
- To make direct changes to the payment configuration in JSON format, select Edit in Advanced Mode from the three-dot menu at the top.
- Use this option with caution, as incorrect configurations can affect payment processing.
Deactivating or Deleting a Payment Method

- Open the configured payment method.
- Select Deactivate from the dropdown at the top.
- Once deactivated, the payment method will no longer be available to customers in its corresponding shop-country but will remain configured.
- To delete a payment configuration, open the payment method and select Delete from the three-dot menu at the top. This action will permanently remove the configuration for the selected shop country.
Sorting Payment Methods

To configure a payment method sorting:
- Open the SCAYLE Panel and go to Settings → Payment Sorting and select the shop country where you want to change the sorting.
- You can define the order of activated payment methods for each device (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile) from the Payment Shop Sorting page.
- Payment methods can be rearranged via drag and drop.
- Every newly added payment method will automatically be added to the last position.
Best Practice: Adjust the order of payment methods based on customer preferences and most-used options to improve the checkout experience.
