What is a CMS?

A Content Management System (CMS) is an application that allows users to create, modify, and manage digital content without specialized technical knowledge. In the context of a modern, headless e-commerce storefront, the CMS acts as the central repository for all non-product-related content (e.g., editorial banners, static pages, visual blocks, promotional copy). It separates content from presentation, allowing the Storefront Application to fetch and display content through its own high-performance front-end.

CMS Setup

We offer a flexible, modular architecture that allows you to easily plug in your preferred CMS provider. The CMS module is automatically registered and loaded based on your application's configuration.

To select your preferred provider, edit the cms property at the root level of your nuxt.config.ts.

The Storefront Application currently provides high-quality, seamless integrations with two leading headless CMS platforms, Storyblok and Contentful.

Crucially, we support the exact same library of core components on both platforms, ensuring consistency and future flexibility, regardless of the provider chosen.

We have prioritized these two providers to give our clients the best combination of visual editing power and enterprise content scalability right out of the box:

• Storyblok: A powerful visual editor and component-based structure, perfect for visual merchandising and marketing-led content creation. We chose Storyblok for its unmatched True Visual Editing experience, which speeds up content iteration for marketing teams.
• Contentful: A highly scalable, content-model-first platform ideal for handling large volumes of complex, structured editorial and enterprise-level content delivery. We chose Contentful for its API-first stability and robust architecture, which is essential for high-volume content needs.
